Alomancy
Alomancy (also halomancy, from Greek háls, salt) is divination by salt — its patterns, the shapes when poured, the cracks of dried salt, dissolution in water. Popular practice in medieval and Renaissance Europe and in traditional African religions brought to the Americas.
Methods
Throw on dark cloth, pour on damp surface, dissolve in water, sprinkle on fire. Each generates patterns interpreted as omens.
