Candomble
Candomblé is a Afro-Brazilian religion of Yoruba, Fon and Bantu origin, structured by enslaved Africans in 19th-century Brazil (especially Bahia). It worships orixás — deities associated with natural forces (Oxum/rivers, Iemanjá/sea, Xangô/justice, Oxalá/creation). Religion of African heritage with hundreds of thousands of followers in Brazil.
Practice
Liturgical center: terreiro (sacred house). Officiated by babalorixá (man) or iyalorixá (woman). Practices: dance, ritual chants, offerings, animal sacrifice, divination through buzios (cowries).
