Spiritism
Spiritism is the doctrine codified by Allan Kardec (Hippolyte Léon Denizard Rivail, 1804-1869) in France in 1857 with The Spirits' Book. It teaches the existence of discarnate spirits who communicate with the living through mediums, plus the doctrine of reincarnation as opportunity for moral evolution. Very popular in Brazil since the late 19th century.
