Exoteric
Exoteric (Greek exōterikós, external) refers to knowledge that is public, open, accessible to anyone. Opposed to esoteric (internal, initiatory). In religious-philosophical traditions, the exoteric is the doctrine taught openly to all; the esoteric is reserved for initiates.
Examples
The exoteric teaching of Christianity is the Bible read in mass; the esoteric (claimed) is Christian Kabbalah, Rosicrucianism. In Islam: the exoteric is Sharia; the esoteric is Sufism.
