Grimoire
A grimoire is a book of ceremonial magic containing instructions, spells, sigils, names of angels and demons. Famous grimoires include the Key of Solomon (medieval), the Lesser Key of Solomon (17th century, with the demon list Ars Goetia), The Sworn Book of Honorius, The Munich Manual.
Historical context
Most medieval grimoires are pseudo-Solomonic (false attribution to King Solomon). The Renaissance saw the explosion of grimoires; many were burned by the Inquisition.
