Hermeticism
Hermeticism is the esoteric tradition based on the Corpus Hermeticum, a body of Greek texts of the 2nd-3rd centuries AD attributed to the legendary Hermes Trismegistus ("thrice-greatest", fusion of the Greek Hermes and the Egyptian Thoth). Includes the famous principle "as above, so below" (Emerald Tablet). Foundation of alchemy, astrology, ceremonial magic and Western Kabbalah.
Seven hermetic principles
The Kybalion (1908, anonymous, attributed to "Three Initiates") summarizes 7 principles: mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, gender. Kybalion is modern, not ancient.
