Carl Jung
Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist, disciple and later opponent of Freud, founder of analytical psychology. His concepts of archetypes, collective unconscious, individuation, shadow, anima/animus and synchronicity were appropriated by modern esotericism, especially in evolutionary tarot, the enneagram and depth astrology.
Esoteric heritage
Jung wrote the preface to Wilhelm\'s German edition of the I Ching (1923), where he introduced the concept of synchronicity. He studied alchemy, Gnosticism and Hindu mandalas. He always insisted: he was not an esotericist, but a psychologist interpreting esoteric symbols.
