Black Magic
Black magic is the popular designation for harmful or coercive magical practices: curses, hexes, dominion over others' will, harm. Most modern magical traditions condemn these practices, citing karmic consequences (Wiccan "Threefold Law") or ethical considerations.
Historical use
Greco-Roman defixiones (curse tablets) — lead inscriptions buried with names of enemies — are the oldest documented form of black magic. Thousands found archaeologically.
