Extrasensory Perception
Extrasensory perception (ESP) is the alleged paranormal ability to obtain information about objects, places or events without using normal physical senses. Term coined by J.B. Rhine at Duke University (1934). Includes telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition — three of the four classical psi faculties.
Methodological history
Tests with Zener cards (1930s), modern Ganzfeld experiments (Honorton, 1970s), automatic detection by computers (Princeton PEAR, 1979-2007). Inconsistent results; no scientific consensus on ESP existence.
