Rider-Waite
The Rider-Waite Tarot is the most influential modern tarot deck, published in London, 1909 by Rider Company, conceived by Arthur Edward Waite (1857-1942) and illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith (1878-1951). Innovation: all 78 cards, including the 56 minors, have narrative figurative scenes (unlike Marseille tarot).
Influence on modern tarot
Most modern tarot decks (Aleister Crowley\'s Thoth, Wild Unknown, Mystic Mondays, etc.) inherit the iconography conceived by Pamela Colman Smith. Common designation: "RWS" (Rider-Waite-Smith), recognizing her contribution.
