The I Ching Oracle is the purely oracular version of the ancient Chinese book — without tarot combination. Consult with coin tossing, get one of the 64 hexagrams (plus eventual mutation hexagram), and read the classic text applied to your question. It is the longest continuously used oracle in the world: at least three thousand years.

Origin and structure

The core text — the Zhouyi — is attributed to King Wen and the Duke of Zhou (11th century BC). The "Ten Wings" — philosophical commentaries — date from the 5th to 3rd centuries BC and are traditionally associated with Confucius. The 64 hexagrams form from combining 8 basic trigrams (Heaven, Earth, Thunder, Wind, Water, Fire, Mountain, Lake).

How to consult

The classic method uses 50 yarrow stalks in long ritual. The popular method from the 10th century uses three coins tossed six times. At Tarotsim, the app does the digital tossing and returns:

  1. Main hexagram — current situation.
  2. Mutating lines — critical points.
  3. Derived hexagram (if mutations exist) — where the situation evolves.

The AI applies Richard Wilhelm's 1923 translation interpreting the classic text in light of your question.

Frequently asked questions

Does the I Ching predict the future?

No. It points to the current symbolic state and suggests attitudes. Jung described it as the perfect example of synchronicity.

Difference from I Ching with tarot?

The I Ching with tarot mixes Chinese symbols and Western cards. This oracle is pure I Ching.

Need Chinese knowledge?

No. Richard Wilhelm's translation (1923 German; 1950 English via Cary F. Baynes) gives full access to the text.
