Geomancy
Geomancy (Greek geō, earth) is divination by marks made on earth, sand or stones. Originated in the Arab world (9th-11th centuries), spread to Europe in the Middle Ages and to West Africa, where it became Ifá (Yoruba). Modern technique uses 16 figures (combinations of 4 lines of single or double points).
The 16 geomantic figures
Each figure has a Latin name: Via, Populus, Albus, Rubeus, Acquisitio, Amissio, etc. 16 figures × 12 houses = casting of geomantic chart (similar to astrology).
