Scapulomancy
Scapulimancy — Greek synonym of spatulamancy: divination by examination of shoulder blade of sacrificed animals. Practice in ancient China (oracle bones of the Shang dynasty, 1600-1046 BC, origin of Chinese writing) and shamanic Mongolian traditions.
Documented use
The cracks in heated bones were interpreted as oracular answers. Over 100,000 archaeological pieces documented the practice and provided the earliest known Chinese writing.
