Spatulamancy
Spatulamancy (or scapulimancy, Greek spathē, blade) is divination by examining the shoulder blade of sacrificed animals — generally sheep or ox. Practice shamanic very ancient, present in ancient China (oracle bones of the Shang dynasty, 1600-1046 BC, considered origin of Chinese writing) and in Mongolia, Korea, Japan.

The Shang priests heated the bones until they cracked; interpreted the patterns of the cracks. The inscriptions found on the bones (over 100,000 archaeological pieces) are the earliest evidence of Chinese writing.
